"Primum Cooperatio" award for Professor Tomasz Puzyn by Pomeranian Employers

The "Primum Cooperatio" award ("Cooperation above all"), awarded by Pomeranian Employers was received by Professor Tomasz Puzyn, the Head of the Environmental Laboratory of Chemoinformatics at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Gdańsk. The Celebration Gala took place on Friday, June 7 at AmberExpo Hall in Gdansk.

"Pomeranian Employers" is the largest and oldest employers' organization operating in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, bringing together over 1,000 enterprises from various industries. The association's awards are presented every year during the Pomeranian Employers' Gala.

- Our goal is to annually select leaders among Pomeranian entrepreneurs who, while achieving good financial and economic results, followed the principles of ethics and social responsibility, providing employees with appropriate working conditions and development opportunities - inform the organizers of the ceremony.

The special award "Primum Cooperatio is awarded to an outstanding representative of the world of science who actively contributes with his knowledge, creative thought and experience to the support and implementation of innovative economic ventures. At the same time, he is a person who has proven through his actions that effective cooperation between both environments is possible, bringing tangible benefits to the economy and science.

- I have a great Team. We were one of the first in the world to start using computer methods to study the safety of nanoparticles. It all started with an idea that I came up with together with my then mentor, prof. Jerzy Leszczynski from Jackson State University when I was a "post-doc" in his team. The topic turned out to be interesting. After returning to Poland, thanks, among other things, to the support of the then Rector, Professor Andrzej Ceynowa and the authorities of the Faculty of Chemistry, I managed to create a new research group around this idea. Soon, we published our first work in "Nature Nanotechnology" and thanks to this we became recognizable - said the laureate in the interview "New methods of research on the safety of nanotechnology - a computer mouse instead of a laboratory mouse".

Sincere congratulations to Professor Tomasz Puzyn and many more successes to come!
