Tomasz Puzyn

Professor Tomasz Puzyn, Ph.D., D.Sc.

World-renowned specialist in the field of chemoinformatics and environmental chemistry, co-author of fundamentals of computational nanotoxicology.
Head of the Laboratory of Environmental Chemoinformatics at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Gdansk, that he established and has been managing since 2008. Current research concerns the development of chemoinformatic methods for the design of nanomaterials and ionic liquids as well as an assessment of risk they may pose for human health and natural environment.

Professor Puzyn is the author of over 140 scientific papers, including publications in leading journals (e.g. Nature Nanotechnology, Green Chemistry), with a total impact factor of over 550, and an editor of five books published worldwide. He gave over 20 invited talks abroad. His works have been cited more than 3’400 times and the Hirsch index is 32. 

Professor Puzyn is an active member of the European NanoSafety Cluster: as the former coordinator of two projects implemented in the FP7 framework and a current member of five HORIZON 2020 projects consortia. He cooperates with over 50 institutions from around the world.

Laureate of the scholarship of the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science, three FNP programs, MNiSW scholarship and the Polish Prime Minister's award for the postdoctoral achievement.

Professor has promoted four doctors and his students receive prestigious awards and scholarships (including L'Oreal, MNiSW).

He is also the founder of QSAR Lab Ltd. – a spin-off company that implements research results in industry, supporting the design of innovative products that are safe for human and natural environment. Professor Puzyn acts as CEO and Scientific Director of QSAR Lab, being reponsible primarily for the operation of the Company in the area of research and development as well as for the scientific supervision of carried out services.
